Video Store Day!

2015_VSD

For the 5th year in row, I’ve been contributing design for International Independent Video Store Day, an annual event to support locally owned shops around the world. Modelled on the highly successful Record Store Day, VSD is all about supporting local hubs of cinematic and cultural learning.  While I must admit, I’m massive consumer of online video and music, video stores played a seminal role in my cultural upbringing. Between 1998 and 2000 I also worked at the venerable Toronto video institution Suspect Video on Queen St. W. (which was later destroyed in a curious fire).

Video Store Day is the brainchild of Daniel Hanna who currently runs the well regarded Eyesore Cinema right above TO record store extraordinaire, Rotate This.
