The awful case of Christine Jessop’s murder really does haunt my home city of Toronto. The details of the crime are horrific, and the ensuing legal saga spawned by the fumbled police investigation is infuriating. That said, it makes for a fascinating exploration into issues of justice, mob rule and ultimately, the power of persistence. Alibi Entertainment’s 3 part series chronicles the nearly 50 year affair, from the initial disappearance in 1984, to the surprising close of the case in 2020. Fans of true crime will not be disappointed with this series, but a word of caution— there are tough moments. As the father of a child about the same age as Christine, I took special care with myself while working on this material.
